Job summary

Avante Health Solutions is seeking a Parts Testing Technician to evaluate, test, and validate ultrasound systems, probes and parts in a production environment and lab settings.

You will document testing results, maintain QA records, and ensure OEM specifications are met while supporting cross-functional teams and ongoing technology learning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2-year degree in biomedical or electronics engineering preferred.
• 1-3 years of troubleshooting/testing experience required; medical device industry preferred.
• Above average troubleshooting knowledge of multi-OEM ultrasound systems and probes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Test, diagnose, and evaluate ultrasound systems, probes, and parts.
• Perform testing using proper techniques, tools, error logs, and experience.
• Document testing processes and update information in parts tracking databases.
• Inspect repaired probes and parts, rental systems, RMAs, and eval-to-purchase equipment for quality and OEM spec adherence.
• Respond to parts availability requests to support scheduling and commitments.
• Maintain assigned QA Bays and comply with ISO 13485 standards.

Job description

The Parts Testing Technician position is responsible for the evaluation, testing and validation of ultrasound systems, probes, and parts, including incoming loaner systems, incoming purchased parts/probes, RMAs, service returns, trade-in equipment, and eval-to-purchase equipment. The Parts Testing Technician will perform all responsibilities of testing, measuring, and recording for acceptance of ultrasound equipment, probes, and parts in a production environment and/or perform product development and qualifications of ultrasound equipment in a lab environment.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

• Performs tasks in a logical progression to properly test, diagnose, and evaluate ultrasound systems, probes, and parts
• Effectively carries out the testing of ultrasound probes and parts utilizing proper techniques, tools, error logs, and experience
• Comprehensively understands how ultrasound probes and parts work, how they integrate with the system, and the value individual parts contribute to the overall system
• Completes and maintains accurate documentation of testing processes as needed and accurately and timely enters and updates information in various parts tracking databases
• Inspects and tests fully repaired probes and parts, as well as incoming rental systems, purchased parts/probes, RMAs, service returns, trade-in equipment, and eval-to-purchase equipment, to ensure quality control and that Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications and guidelines are adhered to
• Responds to parts availability requests in a timely manner to support scheduling and customer commitments
• Maintains assigned Quality Assurance (QA) Bays
• Complies with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per ISO:13485 2016 standards and the Company's Quality Management System
• Demonstrates success and a passion for servicing and learning new technologies
• Identifies improvement opportunities to processes and offers applications and solutions to promote optimal efficiency
• Works professionally and efficiently with all levels within the organization

Experience/Training/Education

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; 2-year degree in biomedical or electronics engineering or other relevant course of study preferred
• 1-3 years of troubleshooting/testing experience required; experience in the medical device industry highly preferred
• Above average troubleshooting knowledge of multi-OEM ultrasound systems and probes a plus

Effective use of Enterprise systems, email, search engine, Internet; ability to effectively use Microsoft Products: Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams; ability to use and understand Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and to use or learn specific software needed to improved productivity.

Communication:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write effective, collaborative correspondence. Capacity to read through policies, reporting, and compliance requirements. Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees of the organization.

Math & Reasoning:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportion, percentages, and volume; ability to apply algebraic concepts. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and willingness to adapt to change and take initiative.

Physical and Environmental Elements

Physical Demands:

Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, climb, balance, or otherwise maneuver body while servicing and/or inspecting medical equipment. Capacity to reach with hands and arms for at least 1/2 of the normal work shift. Ability to climb stairs, lift, carry, or otherwise move up to 400 lbs while working with medical equipment. Ability to talk or hear continuously. Ability to see clearly to do all work-related tasks (clear or corrected vision at 20 inches or less). Finger dexterity is required frequently for over 3/4 of the normal work shift.

Work Environment:

Position is predominantly performed in a warehouse environment with moderate noise levels where temperatures may be subject to outdoor conditions in terms of cold and heat. There is exposure to large medical equipment and parts, heavy machinery, and high-voltage electricity.
