Position Summary

The Parts Specialist is an entry-level parts department role responsible for supporting daily parts operations, including receiving, organizing, stocking, labeling, cycle counting, parts staging, and technician support. This position helps maintain inventory accuracy, clean and organized parts storage areas, and timely parts availability for repair operations. The role works closely with the Senior Parts Specialist and branch operations team to support efficient shop workflow and accurate parts documentation.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with daily parts department operations, including receiving, organizing, stocking, and labeling parts.
  • Perform cycle counts and report inventory discrepancies to the Senior Parts Specialist or designated parts leadership.
  • Receive incoming orders, verify quantity, condition, and pricing, and stage parts for stocking.
  • Maintain organized, safe, and clean parts storage areas in accordance with company standards.
  • Prepare parts for return shipments such as cores, incorrect parts, and warranty-related returns under direction of the Senior Parts Specialist.
  • Monitor bin levels and communicate reorder needs to the Senior Parts Specialist or branch parts leadership.
  • Prepare, pull, stage, issue, and document parts for technician repair orders.
  • Provide timely parts support to technicians by locating, issuing, and documenting parts accurately.
  • Assist with staging parts for upcoming jobs to support efficient shop workflow.
  • Identify commonly used parts that require restocking and communicate needs to the Senior Parts Specialist.
  • Learn company parts procedures, stocking methods, inventory systems, and internal processes.
  • Assist with basic data entry tasks, including stocking locations, part counts, receiving entries, and inventory records.
  • Occasionally pick up and deliver parts utilizing a company vehicle when authorized and qualified under company driving expectations.
  • Follow company policies, customer site requirements, branch procedures, and all applicable safety and environmental rules.
Non-Essential / Marginal Functions
  • Support general branch errands, parts area organization projects, warranty documentation, and shop readiness tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in parts department training, branch meetings, safety discussions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist with customer-facing or vendor-related parts activities when directed by branch leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions, learn quickly, and work in a fast-paced parts and repair environment.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with technicians, foremen, service writers, Senior Parts Specialist, branch managers, vendors, and other team members.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office or willingness to learn required systems.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records for receiving, stocking, cycle counts, parts issue activity, and inventory movement.
  • Ability to identify parts, labels, stocking locations, part counts, and inventory discrepancies accurately.
  • Positive attitude, dependability, and willingness to support the parts department team.
  • Ability to maintain clean, safe, organized parts storage and shop-support areas.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pick up or deliver parts when needed if assigned to driving duties.
  • Ability to pass company-required pre-employment, safety, and site-access requirements.
  • Ability to work in warehouse, shop, and parts storage environments and comply with PPE and safety requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements listed in this job description, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior warehouse, shop, parts, inventory, automotive, truck, trailer, or industrial experience preferred but not required.
  • TWIC card preferred or willingness to obtain if required by customer or location needs.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems, fleet management software, ERP systems, or parts ordering portals.
  • Forklift, pallet jack, or material-handling experience preferred; training may be provided if needed.
  • Interest in progressing into a Senior Parts Specialist or related CTTECH parts and supply chain career path.
Work Environment
  • Work is performed primarily in a branch parts area, warehouse, shop, office, corporate office, or customer-related operational environment depending on the role.
  • The position may involve exposure to moving equipment, shop noise, weather conditions, dust, grease, chemicals, forklifts, pallet jacks, parts storage areas, and other conditions associated with industrial repair and parts operations.
  • PPE may include, but is not limited to, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, hard hat, respirator, or fall protection based on task and site requirements.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, and use hands to handle materials, tools, documents, parts, or computer equipment.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance or mechanical aid as required by the position.
  • Work around shelves, parts storage areas, shop equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, branch work areas, and uneven yard surfaces when required.
  • Maintain visual attention, manual dexterity, and situational awareness in parts, warehouse, shop, office, and branch environments.
