Job summary

Faribault Foods, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Parts & Inventory Specialist to oversee parts rooms, inventories, and procurement for plant maintenance and engineering activities.

You will administer the Megamation CMMS, track expenditures, coordinate with maintenance leads, and ensure parts availability to support production across shifts. Strong inventory and vendor management skills are essential.

Job description

SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for maintaining the systems that support the maintenance, engineering, and technical support activities within the plant on all shifts. These duties include managing the maintenance and engineering parts room, administering the computerized maintenance management system (Megamation, or similar). Forecast parts room inventory levels and initiate reorder process in a timely manner to support the business units and help achieve plant goals of quality, safety, productivity, and customer service. Responsible for spare parts vendor selection and management. Responsible for tracking actual expenses while staying within budget. Responsible for spare parts procurement cycle. Perform daily receiving and all stockroom activities. Communicate with production, maintenance and finance department personnel to coordinate parts and supply issues affecting production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain the availability of electrical, mechanical and general other supplies needed for production machines and equipment while minimizing inventory costs.
• Perform Annual full storeroom inventory count. Perform cycle count of critical parts.
• Ensure appropriate non-stock supplies are available to support maintenance and production requirements.
• Administrate the Megamation applications within the plant including work order tracking, purchasing, equipment, and database security.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Leads and Supervisor on providing maintenance parts kits for corrective and preventive maintenance work orders prior to work start date.
• Control expenditures within limitations of project budget and at cost-effective levels at all times.
• Track all orders to verify timely delivery of parts as required.
• Consult with vendors and suppliers to resolve issues concerning availability, quality or quantity of requested parts.
• Investigate new sources of parts that can supply an equivalent or superior return in quality, cost, and availability.
• Ensure the stockroom is maintained in a safe, clean and organized condition. Adhere to company policies concerning GMPs.
• Maintain high morale and quality focus among plant personnel.
• Stage parts for projects and weekend work as needed to ensure work order efficiency.
• Ensure parts room, parts and assets are barcoded to maintain organization within the department.
• Lead and maintain the red tag system for rebuilding parts. This includes WO creation, part orders and coordinating with mechanics to ensure quality and efficient repair.
• Observe and comply with all standard safety practices, safety guidelines, and all Company guidelines and policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School education or equivalent with four years of demonstrated related experience and/or training
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with computers, particularly with MS Office applications, Internet, database systems and computerized maintenance management systems
• Demonstrated experience with VMI (vendor managed inventory). Working experience with CMMS preferred.
• Production maintenance experience preferred
• Must be able to understand and follow directions and handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Must be able to demonstrate good attendance and work extended hours and/or overtime as required
• Must be able to participate in job development training, such as equipment cross-training and team development training

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to effectively read, write, speak and comprehend English. The ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal customers and or vendors. The ability to effectively present information to various levels within the organization.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily in an office setting in a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment. When performing jobs on the plant production floor, work requires possible exposure to all temperature changes, high noise levels, working around moving equipment, electrical hazards, tanks, heights, fumes, chemicals, vibrations, dust, etc. Working hours must be flexible with the ability to work on all shifts and extended hours as required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
