Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Parts/Materials Supervisor in the Water Department / Plant Operations Division. The role oversees procurement, warehousing, and inventory control, coordinating with divisions, vendors, and the public to support operations.

Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in a related field, four years in purchasing or inventory, and supervisory experience. Valid Texas driver’s license and forklift cert may be required. Equal opportunity employer.

  • Associate’s degree in business administration, purchasing, accounting or related field is required.
  • Four (4) years of responsible purchasing, materials management, or inventory control experience.
  • One (1) year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience.
  • Must pass Drug Screen, Physical.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • As assigned, possession of, or ability to obtain, a forklift certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, ensuring proper training, adherence to policies, a safe work environment, and informed decisions or recommendations on hiring and disciplinary actions.
  • Manages warehouse operations; such as flow of goods from receiving shipment to storing, picking, packing and shipping out.
  • Monitors stock records to ensure inventory is within established guidelines; and reviews daily inventory cycle counts, monthly inventory interfaces and annual year end audit count.
  • Coordinates purchasing or warehousing activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations.
  • Evaluate new services or products offered to the City by vendors and suppliers; make recommendations on purchase for specific areas; solicits quotes; and research prices for materials and supplies required by assigned department.
  • Provides staff assistance to higher level supervisory or management; participates in a variety of committees; and prepares and presents staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary

Pay Range: $26.38 - $33.21/hr. | $55,268 - $69,085 annual compensation

A Parts/Materials Supervisor job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department /Plant Operations Division. This position supervises and coordinates the division’s procurement, warehousing, and inventory management operations, collaborates with other divisions, vendors, external agencies, and the public, and provides staff support to senior supervisory and management personnel.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, purchasing, accounting or related field
  • Four (4) years of responsible purchasing, materials management, or inventory control experience
  • One (1) year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience
  • Must pass Drug Screen, Physical
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • As assigned, possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate forklift certificate
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Municipality purchasing policies and procedures
  • Experience with Asset Management Systems
  • Experience PeopleSoft/ EPR Financial Supply Chain Management

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.

Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
