Job summary

Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) is seeking a Parts and Inventory Control Associate to support the Material Control Parts Counter, including receiving, storing, researching, issuing, and recording parts. The role requires attention to detail, safe driving, and the ability to work across multiple shifts in a 24/7 operation.

Day in the life

The Parts and Inventory Control Associate, also known as the Inventory Control Technician I, supports the daily operations of the Material Control Parts Counter by receiving, storing, researching, issuing, and accurately recording parts, materials, and supplies. This position assists internal customers by identifying the correct parts, confirming availability, providing order updates, and recommending alternative solutions when needed. The role also supports inventory accuracy, shipping and receiving, material movement, reporting, and other warehouse activities. This position reports to the Supervisor of Inventory Control and Material Management and works under the guidance of higher-level Inventory Control Technicians.

LYNX is a 24/7 Operation; candidates must be willing and able to work any of the following shifts below:
  • 6:00am to 2:30pm
  • 2:00pm to 10:30pm ($2.00 Pay Differential)
  • 10:00pm to 6:30am ($3.00 Pay Differential)
Essential Functions:

  • Receives, stores, and issues materials and supplies in a high-density storage facility with limited aisle clearance, shelving and pallet racks.
  • Assists Shipping and Receiving by counting, sorting, identifying, labeling, locating, storing, and recording incoming items verifying receipt against orders.
  • Issues parts, tools, and materials as requested within established guidelines, and records issuance manually on work orders and in software applications.
  • Researches and identifies the correct part, material, availability, and/or alternative resource for the most cost-effective solution with our internal customer using software applications, parts manuals, bulletins, and diagrams
  • Provides status reports on outstanding orders to our internal customers and communicates any change in need or urgency as the situation requires.
  • Assists with Internal Parts Requisitions (IPR) for new parts or special projects and documents recommendations for inventory adjustment and quality audit issues.
  • Receives, tags, locates, records, and stores repairable item cores.
  • Operates material handling equipment to unload vehicles and move material between and within high-density storage facility(s). This equipment includes but is not limited to Fork Truck, Pallet Jack, Dollies, rolling tables and pneumatic lifts.
  • Uses a computer and acquires skills in certain automated inventory applications.
  • Completes daily activity reports and special projects.
  • Creates and maintains spreadsheet reports to document workload and material movement activity.
  • Performs physical counts, examines stored materials and records accurate results.
  • Makes pick-ups and deliveries using available LYNX vehicles and includes dropping off cores and picking up new parts at vendor locations; transfers/makes deliveries of parts and materials between operations bases, buildings and satellite facility(s).
Required Qualifications:
  • A High School diploma or GED
  • Additional directly related experience beyond the minimum requirement may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license and safe driving record.
Desired Qualifications:
  • One year of inventory control experience.
  • A Forklift Industrial Operator’s license and experience helpful
  • Knowledge of bus or automotive parts helpful
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Knowledge of proper handling of HAZMAT products/materials and related items.
  • Skills in interpersonal relations with a positive customer-oriented attitude.
  • Skills in analysis and organization with attention to details.
  • Skills in the use of computers including spreadsheets, word processing, and automated inventory software applications. .
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to process accurate documents.
  • Ability to assimilate information, make sound independent decisions and communicate the information.
  • Ability to learn new software programs.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with those encountered in the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
Work Environment and Special Considerations:
  • Works primarily in a warehouse environment, which may include exposure to weather conditions, various fumes, and other chemical agents.
  • Must be able to work any shift in a 24-hour / 7 day per week operation to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Will drive a company vehicle for pick-ups and deliveries to and from other LYNX facilities.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, bend, kneel, walk (including up and down stairs); dexterity in use of material handling equipment; lifts and carries items up to 50 pounds repetitively.
