Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, IL is seeking a Parts Information Specialist to support aftersales and PSLD initiatives.

You will design, create, and maintain technical parts information for Caterpillar products, ensuring accuracy and adherence to standards as part of a team serving dealers and customers. In this role, you will collaborate with engineers and service personnel, utilize ERP data, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence. The Parts Information Specialist designs, creates and maintains technical parts information for company products. Caterpillar Parts Authors are a critical team member working to provide best in class parts information to Caterpillar dealers and customers.

What You Will Do:
  • Creates and revises technical parts information in support of new product introduction, continuous process improvement, and revision timelines.
  • Ensures all parts information is created accurately per standards and participates in process improvement efforts.
  • Utilizes engineering data to confirm part numbers, part names, and quantities for Caterpillar users.
What You Have (Basic Requirements):
  • Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
  • Data Gathering & Analysis: Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
  • Service Excellence: Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
Top Candidates Will Have:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2-4 years of work experience at Caterpillar or in a similar role
  • Experience with Caterpillar systems like EDS, Teamcenter, HVC/PRWB or reading prints

Summary Pay Range:

$72,360.00 - $108,540.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
