Job description

Via is on a mission to create public transportation systems that provide greater access to jobs, healthcare, and education. Our platform serves as the technology backbone for modern transit networks, transforming antiquated and siloed public transportation systems into smart, data-driven, and efficient digital networks. With hundreds of agency partners around the world, Via is recognized as the leading transportation technology and service provider globally.

As a Parts Clerk at Via, you will be the backbone of our maintenance operation — making sure every technician has the right part at the right time to keep our fleet on the road and our riders moving. This is a hands‑on, detail‑oriented role for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and takes pride in keeping things organized and running smoothly.

On‑the‑job training is provided, and no prior transit experience is required.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory records for all parts, supplies, and materials used across the maintenance department.
  • Process requisitions, purchase orders, and parts requests; from ordering and receiving to distributing, restocking, and returning parts as needed.
  • Ensure parts and supplies are promptly issued to the maintenance team and other company departments to minimize vehicle downtime.
  • Track all incoming and outgoing parts through a detailed, up‑to‑date inventory log.
  • Produce regular reports on parts usage, equipment, fuels, fluids, and worker/equipment utilization.
  • Monitor minimum and maximum inventory levels, flagging parts with high utilization rates or obsolete stock.
  • Keep the storeroom clean, organized, and properly stocked at all times.
  • Support the operations and maintenance teams with additional responsibilities as they arise.
Who You Are:
  • Organized and detail‑oriented – you take pride in accurate records and a well‑run storeroom.
  • Dynamic; willing to wear multiple hats and work on projects of all types.
  • An action‑oriented executor: you take initiative to solve problems and get the job done.
  • Proficient with computer systems, including Windows‑based programs; experience with inventory or fleet management software is a plus.
  • Able to safely operate a forklift and maintenance equipment (training provided).
  • Eligible to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake and Passenger Endorsements (preferred).
  • High School diploma or GED required; coursework or a degree in mechanics, business, or management is a plus.
  • Able to lift, carry, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 75–100 lbs occasionally.
  • Successful completion of a drug test and criminal background check is mandatory for employment.
  • Able to interview in person at the Mobile office.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • Salary starting at $18.30 / hour
  • We are proud to offer a generous and comprehensive benefits package for full‑time employees, including health and retirement benefits.
  • This is a full‑time, hourly position (40 hours/week).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
