Job summary

Via is seeking a Utility Worker to maintain the safety and functionality of its facilities and vehicles. This role offers on-the-job training and is ideal for someone who takes pride in ensuring smooth operations through maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities include upkeep of vehicles, building maintenance, and supporting the operations team. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and be able to interview in person in Mobile, Alabama.

Competitive hourly pay of $18 - $20 with comprehensive benefits for full-time employees.

Utility Worker at Via, you will play a key role in maintaining the safety, efficiency, and functionality of our facilities, vehicles, and grounds. This is a hands‑on role ideal for someone who takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly through a wide range of maintenance and support tasks.

On‑the‑job training is provided, and no prior transit experience is required.

What You’ll Do:

• Upkeep, sanitize, and detail buses and support vehicles to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for riders and staff.
• Perform general building and grounds upkeep, including custodial tasks and minor repairs, ensuring facilities are clean, orderly, and operating safely.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks (e.g., tire swaps) under training and supervision of the Maintenance Manager.
• Support the operations team with miscellaneous responsibilities as they arise, including moving equipment, organizing workspaces, and assisting with special projects.
• Additional duties will be discussed during the interview and may evolve based on operational needs.

Who You Are:

• Hold a valid driver’s license.
• Dynamic; willing to wear multiple hats and work on projects of all types.
• An action‑oriented executor: you take initiative to solve problems and get the job done.
• Successful completion of a drug test, criminal background check, and motor vehicle records check is mandatory for employment.
• Able to pass a pre‑employment physical.
• Pass a drug screening and background check: no felonies, clean MVR, no DUI/DWI or reckless driving convictions, and no more than 2 speeding tickets.
• At least 21 years old.
• Able to interview in person at the Mobile office.

Compensation And Benefits

• Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
• Salary: $18 - $20 per hour.
