Job summary

CITY OF KILLEEN is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Warehouse/Inventory Assistant for the Fleet Services division. You will assist in maintaining parts, fluids, ties, and tool inventories, open, close, and update service work orders, and support semi-skilled and administrative tasks related to facilities and equipment.

You will input customer and vehicle information into the fleet management system, notify customers when items are ready for pickup, stock and issue inventory items, and reconcile

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of related experience in warehouse/purchasing, equipment maintenance, and/or service writing.

Responsibilities

• Open, close, and update service work orders pertaining to customer needs.
• Document and track customer information and service work needs and communicate to supervisor and technician.
• Input customer and vehicle/equipment information into the fleet management system.
• Notify customers when vehicle/equipment is ready for pickup by email, phone, or text.
• Receive, stock and issue inventory items to technicians, customers, and ensure they are issued to the appropriate work orders.
• Occasionally drive to pick up parts (e.g., Dallas or San Antonio).
• Update inventory listings in the applicable database, including monthly and annual reconciliation.
• Assist in budgeting throughout the fiscal year.
• Maintain parts room and other areas, clean, safe, secure, and well organized.
• Manufacture hydraulic and pneumatic hoses from available stock.
• Install annual registration stickers and license plates as required.

Description

Assists in maintaining parts, fluids, ties, and tool inventories; opens, closes, and updates service work orders pertaining to customer needs. Assist in performing semi-skilled and administrative work in maintaining the facilities and equipment of the Fleet Services division.

The employee will have the responsibility of:

• Opening,closing,andupdatingserviceworkorders
• Documentingandtrackingthecustomerinformationandserviceworkneedsand communicates this information to a supervisor and technician
• Inputtingthecustomerandvehicle/equipmentinformationintothefleetmanagement system
• Notifyingcustomerswhenvehicle/equipmentisreadyfor pickup by email, phone, or text
• Receiving,stocksandissuesinventoryitemstotechnicians,customers,andensures they are issued to the appropriate work order(s).
• Periodicallydrivingtopick-upparts,asfarasDallasor San Antonio
• Updatinginventorylistingsintheapplicabledatabase,includingreconciliationof inventory monthly and annually
• Assistinginthebudgetingprocessthroughoutthefiscal year
• Maintainingpartsroom,andotherareasasassigned,clean,safe,secure,andwell organized
• Manufacturing hydraulicandpneumatichosesfromavailable stock
• Installingannualregistrationstickersandlicenseplatesas required

The work environment will require the employee to:

• Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Minimumofone(1)yearofrelatedexperienceinwarehouse/purchasing,equipment maintenance, and/or service writing; or

Special Requirements:

• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within ninety (90) days of hire
• Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
• Participates in On-Call program within six months of hire – approximately one week per month
