Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of attorney experience preferred.
• Experience representing insurance carriers strongly preferred.
• Strong background in coverage analysis, opinion writing, and coverage litigation.
• Excellent legal writing, analytical, organizational, and client communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage sophisticated coverage matters and client relationships.
• Illinois Bar admission preferred/required as appropriate.
• Partner-level candidates preferred, though Senior Counsel/Of Counsel/Senior Associate considered.
• NO BOOK OF BUSINESS OR PORTABLE CLIENTS REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

Compensation: Up to $250,000+ base, DOE, plus annual bonus

About the Role

C&M Legal Search, a third-party legal recruiting agency, is conducting a confidential, currently unposted search for an experienced Insurance Coverage Partner on behalf of a well-established national law firm in Chicago, Illinois This is a non-equity/service partner role, and NO portable book of business is required.

Note: Although the target is a non-equity Partner, the firm may consider an experienced Senior Counsel, Of Counsel, or Senior Associate with the right insurance coverage background.

With a dozen or more lawyers in the Chicago office, this law firm boasts 200 legal professionals across 12+ major offices offices and represents national and international insurers, businesses, financial institutions, and other sophisticated clients. The firm's Chicago office has undergone significant recent growth, including the addition of an established attorney team, creating a particularly experienced insurance coverage and complex litigation group.

Responsibilities

• Advise insurance carriers on complex first- and third-party coverage matters
• Analyze insurance policies and prepare detailed coverage opinions and claims advice
• Draft reservation-of-rights letters, DISCLAIMERS, and other coverage correspondence
• Handle declaratory judgment and insurance coverage litigation
• Manage coverage matters involving CGL, professional liability/E&O, property, construction, environmental, bad faith, excess/umbrella, reinsurance, and related issues
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive filings
• Develop coverage and litigation strategy for sophisticated insurance-industry clients
• Communicate directly with carriers and clients regarding coverage positions, litigation strategy, and case developments
• Independently manage matters while collaborating with an experienced, senior-level Chicago team

Qualifications

• 5 - 8+ years of relevant attorney experience preferred
• Experience representing insurance carriers strongly preferred
• Strong background in coverage analysis, opinion writing, and coverage litigation
