Job summary

The Community Action Organization of Western New York Inc is seeking a Part-Time Youth Services Counselor in New York, NY area. You will design and implement growth-focused programs for children and teens, providing mentorship and supportive guidance.

Responsibilities include creating lesson plans per NY guidelines, coordinating events, and tracking participant progress. You will collaborate with families and partner agencies to enhance resources and opportunities.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; must be 18+ years old.
• Experience: minimum 1 year working with youth in an accredited program.
• Certification: First Aid/CPR AED within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Design and run programs in academics, sports, arts, and community services.
• Create lesson plans aligned with NY State Education Guidelines.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise field trips, workshops, and mentoring sessions.
• Develop individualized support plans and assess participant needs.
• Provide one-on-one guidance and encourage positive behaviors.
• Assist youth with academics and connect to job training or career counseling.
• Build partnerships with schools and community organizations to expand resources.
• Support youth in expressing feelings and developing emotional intelligence.
• Collaborate with families and other agencies to support wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and program data.
