Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware is seeking a part-time Youth Assistant at the Brandywine YMCA in Wilmington, DE to supervise children, provide daily care, and support social-emotional development in a safe, nurturing environment.

This role emphasizes age-appropriate activities, active participation in group programs, and maintaining clean, safe facilities. Successful candidates will meet age requirements and pass required background checks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and at least four years older than any child in direct care.
• Ability to provide diapering, toileting, and social-emotional support as part of daily care.
• Experience or comfort working with youth in a group setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all children, groups, and activities as assigned while practicing safe, developmentally appropriate childcare.
• Provide daily care for children including diapering, toileting, and social-emotional support.
• Encourage and engage children in Kids’ Club activities and age-appropriate group activities.
• Assist in planning, implementing and actively participating in daily age-appropriate activities to promote learning and fun.
• Ensure the facility and equipment are age-appropriate, clean, and safe daily.
• Complete program documentation including attendance, incidents/accidents, and parent communication.
• Must be at least 16 years of age and meet required background checks.
