Job summary

Penobscot Bay YMCA in Rockport, ME seeks a Prevention Educator – Part-Time to deliver engaging, evidence-informed health and substance-use prevention education directly to K–12 students in local schools and afterschool programs, and to extend outreach across Waldo County.

This 25-hour-per-week role includes mileage reimbursement at $0.56 per mile, a start date of August 1, 2026, and a grant-based term through June 30, 2027 with potential renewal; pay is $27.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in public health, education, human services, or related field is welcome but relevant life/work experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Deliver interactive, age-appropriate health and substance-use prevention education to K–12 students.
• Collaborate with school staff to coordinate scheduling and foster positive school climates.
• Help facilitate youth-led activities and peer messaging.
• Provide community harm reduction education and resource navigation across Waldo County.
• Maintain records of classroom presentations and outreach activities.
