Job summary

Streamwood Park District is seeking a part-time Music Instructor to provide private and group lessons. You will plan lessons, teach in your genre, and track student progress, communicating with parents after each session.

The role requires a high school diploma, at least one year of theater experience with youth, and CPR/AED certification within six months of hire. Expect a supportive team and flexible hours up to 19 per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to teach and demonstrate all aspects of children’s theater.
• CPR/AED certification to be obtained within six months of hire.
• At least 1 year of experience with children’s theater (rehearsal, production, performance).

Responsibilities

• Prepare for each lesson using appropriate music lesson books and supplies.
• Teach students in a progressive manner and build upon skills and concepts learned.
• Provide verbal progress updates to parents/guardians after each class.
• Maintain excellent customer service in all interactions.
• Wear appropriate attire and be on time for scheduled hours.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Provide weekly updates on material needs and assignments.
• Create a supportive and nurturing environment for each student.
• Adhere to music program guidelines and directives.
• Communicate professionally with students and families.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
