Job Details: Job Location: Northbrook Community Center - Northbrook, IL, Position Type: Part Time, Education Level: 4 Year Degree, Salary Range: $18.00 - $50.00Hourly, Job Category: Performing Arts, Inspire a love of music in our community with the littlest members! The Northbrook Park District is seeking a passionate and skilled Music Instructor to provide high-quality, engaging instruction that helps students ages 0-5 explore and grow in their musical expression!

This position is responsible for teaching assigned classes in a designated program area, within established program guidelines and while providing the proper guidance and support for each participant. Class instruction will be for adult and child and will focus on the overall exposure and experimentation of music, sound, and creativity! Demonstrates commitment to the Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of the District

Pay & Schedule

$18.00 - $50.00 Per Hour

This is a part-time, non-exempt position.

Wednesday & Saturday Mornings 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Anticipated Start Date: 10/26/2026

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements lessons or schedule supporting the established program curriculum.
  • Actively engages all students and provides support and constructive feedback.
  • Tracks attendance records and documents student progress, when required.
  • Prepares students for end of session shows or recitals as needed.
  • Prepares students/attendees for games as needed.
  • Arrives before class start time to inspect instruction space, set-up equipment and supplies if needed and greet students.
  • Regularly updates Leisure Services Supervisor on the condition of the teaching space and equipment.
  • Plans and organizes class routines, projects, performances, recital(s), when required.
  • Diligently follows and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner.
  • Follows safe work practices.
  • Attends trainings and meetings as required.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Degree from four-year college or university with major course work in the subject area being taught, or supplemented by four (4) years teaching experience or experience working in the program area; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills.
