Job summary

Boys & Girls Club Of the Northern Plains in Vermillion, SD seeks a Lead Youth Development Professional to support daily programs for Pre-K–2nd grade members, ensuring safe, high-quality delivery and engaging activities. You will mentor youth, coordinate programs across academics, leadership, and healthy lifestyles, and foster a welcoming, inclusive Club environment.

This role focuses on positive youth development, behavior management, and teamwork with staff and volunteers, serving as a role

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Valid CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment (training provided in-house).
• Commitment to working four days a week.
• Be available to set a class schedule for the upcoming semester and meet scheduling needs.
• Be available to work after school hours through Club closing during the school year.
• Be available to work during summer hours (7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m.).
• Must understand and apply behavior management principles and youth development values.

Responsibilities

• Lead programs in Academic Success, Character & Leadership, and Healthy Lifestyles.
• Plan and deliver age-appropriate, engaging activities in recreation, fitness, arts, and enrichment.
• Model positive behavior and serve as a mentor to members, staff, and volunteers.
• Create a safe, inclusive space where every child is valued.
• Support youth with behavioral challenges using positive redirection and teamwork.
• Encourage participation and teamwork among members and their peers.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe program areas.
• Communicate effectively with staff and supervisors; provide feedback to improve programs.
• Track attendance and complete basic reports to evaluate program success.
• Uphold Club policies and safety standards and promote Positive Youth Development.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings to build leadership and professional skills.
• Demonstrate Club values of excellence, teamwork, impact, and good character.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
