Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of America is seeking a Youth Development Specialist to support Club leadership in delivering an outcome-driven experience across core pillars such as academics, character development, health, arts, sports, and well-being. The role works directly with youth to ensure safety, growth, and positive engagement in activities.

The YDS must be self-motivated, energetic, and capable of maintaining professional boundaries with members, parents, staff, and volunteers.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required, and an associate's degree in education, youth development, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience with youth in educational or development settings is preferred.
• Ability to plan, develop, and implement age-appropriate programs emphasizing academics and healthy lifestyles.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate youth positively.
• Adaptability, willingness to learn, and trauma-informed, strengths-based problem-solving.
• Experience with diverse cultures and backgrounds and strong communication skills.
• CPR/First Aid preferred; willingness to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate activities in the assigned program area.
• Ensure facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained and report issues.
• Review supply inventory and request orders promptly.
• Facilitate BGCA core programs as directed by the Supervisor.
• Provide active presence to create a safe and healthy Club environment.
• Collect and track attendance, coursework, and behavior data as needed.
• Participate in staff meetings and training events.
• Set up and clean program areas daily and communicate expectations.
• Maintain safety guidelines and align activities with Core Program Pillars.
• Manage administrative functions and reporting of activities and events.
