Job summary

New York Edge, a leading after-school program provider in New York City, seeks a Cheerleading Specialist. You will organize, lead, and coach youth, delivering targeted skill instruction within after-school programs.

You will also train staff in line with the Three-Season Sports/Physical Activity Model and support sport-specific professional development for safe, engaging activities. The role emphasizes modeling professional coaching techniques, following curricula, and coordinating performances

Qualifications

• Must have experience teaching youth in dance or cheer.
• Ability to follow a structured curriculum and safety guidelines.
• Excellent communication and reliability required.
• Experience with stage/performing arts is a plus.
• Must be able to work in NYC public school environments.

Responsibilities

• Establish behavioral rules and order among students.
• Organize, lead and promote cheerleading activities.
• Coordinate rehearsal groups and performances.
• Set clear lesson objectives and communicate them.
• Assess needs, adapt activities, and prepare materials.
• Explain safety procedures and demonstrate equipment use.
• Evaluate activities to ensure desired results.
• Adapt teaching methods to student needs and interests.
• Develop students' skills toward final projects.
