Job summary

New York Edge is seeking passionate and enthusiastic people to fill the role of Cheerleading Specialist in New York City after-school programs. You will organize, lead, and provide targeted skills instruction, coaching youth, and training staff in New York Edge after-school programs.

They facilitate the New York Edge Three-Season Sports/Physical Activity Model and require stress-appropriate coaching techniques.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cheerleading styles and ability to teach youth in dance.
• Experience in stage/theatre etiquette and performance prep.
• Ability to choreograph dance works and assemble a cohesive performance.
• Must be able to follow a curriculum and be reliable and punctual.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students.
• Organize, lead, and promote interest in activities such as cheerleading.
• Organize performance groups and direct their rehearsals.
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
• Progressive development of student skills leading to a final project.
