Job summary

First Step Healthcare LLC seeks a Youth Behavioral Respite Provider to give short-term relief to families enrolled in OhioRISE. You will supervise youth for 3–6 hour sessions at home or in the community across Licking County, following care plans and coordinating with families and the care team.

Responsibilities include planning activities, de-escalation, transporting youths, and documenting sessions. Travel, flexibility for evenings, and required trainings are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license, reliable vehicle, auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.
• Hands-on first aid certification, trauma-informed care training, and de-escalation training (provided and paid for if not already held).
• Availability for weekday afternoons or evenings and some weekend sessions.
• Ability to pass BCI/FBI background check.
• Basic smartphone and computer skills for scheduling and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one supervision and support to a youth (or siblings) for scheduled sessions of 3–6 hours.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate recreational, social, and community activities (parks, libraries, gyms, outings, errands).
• Follow the strategies in the youth's individualized care plan and use positive, trauma-informed approaches.
• Model and reinforce coping, social, communication, and daily-living skills.
• Recognize early signs of escalation and use approved de-escalation techniques; call for help when needed.
• Transport the youth to approved activities in your own vehicle.
• Communicate with the parent or caregiver at the start and end of each session; report concerns to the supervisor.
• Complete a brief service note the same day, accurately and in the required format.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all agency, safety, and documentation policies.
• Attend required trainings and periodic team check-ins.
