Job summary

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker - Writing Specialist. The Writing Specialist will meet with writers, in-person and online, to support writing at any stage and co-create center resources and training.

Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. Hours are 10–19.5 per week with a $15.00 hourly rate, and internal NSHE applicants must apply via Workday.

Qualifications

• Must be in good academic standing with GPA 2.0+ (undergrad) or 3.0+ (graduate).
• Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student with minimum 6 credits (undergrad) or 5 credits (grad).
• Minimum of 12 credit hours completed and at least 6 at Nevada State University.
• ENG 102 completed by the start date.
• At least 1 full year remaining in your college career.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Preferred: interest in writing for diverse audiences; openness to new ideas; multilingual experience.

Responsibilities

• Support writers in-person and online.
• Receive training in universal design, revision strategies, and tutoring.
• Lead writing workshops and all-campus events (LNAP).
• Contribute to Writing Center resources and community.
• Potential opportunities include advertising, website design, and event planning.
