Job summary

Washtenaw Community College is seeking Part-time Writing Center Tutors to assist students, faculty, and staff with writing needs. Tutors may be hired for future opportunities and must be currently enrolled with at least 6 credit hours.

Responsibilities include commenting on student submissions, providing feedback, and using AI-enabled tools where appropriate while upholding confidentiality and college policies.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled Washtenaw Community College student with a minimum of 6 credit hours.
• Final grade of A in ENG 111 or equivalent is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and to follow grammar/punctuation rules.
• Familiarity with MLA and APA documentation styles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Blackboard, and Zoom.

Responsibilities

• Assist students, faculty, and staff with writing needs in a courteous manner.
• Comment on and respond to Writing Center assignments submitted by students.
• Use technology and AI-enabled tools where appropriate to support duties while maintaining confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
