Job summary

The City of Miami's Parks and Recreation Department seeks a part-time water safety instructor to teach and supervise classes in lifeguarding, swimming, and related programs. You will lead demonstrations, monitor safety, and maintain records.

Applicants must be 16+, hold Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid certifications; background screening may apply; evenings and weekends shifts required.

Qualifications

• Must possess Water Safety Instructor cert at time of application and throughout employment.
• Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Standard First Aid certifications required.
• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Background screening may be required.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and organize water safety, life saving, swimming classes and competitions.
• Lead demonstrations and monitor student performance; enforce safety rules.
• Assist in scheduling Learn to Swim and water safety programs.
• Prepare and maintain records; assist with reports and equipment inspections.
• Work with varied shifts including nights, holidays and weekends.
