Seasonal Lifeguard II

Seasonal Lifeguard II enforces regulations and protects life at a City pool. This role supervises and schedules lifeguards and other part‑time staff, instructs water safety classes, and assists with training for aquatics personnel.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule part‑time and temporary lifeguards and other staff as needed.
• Instruct and organize water safety, life‑saving procedures, and swimming classes.
• Assist with in‑service training for aquatics personnel.
• Patrol and observe the pool area to ensure appropriate use by patrons.
• Rescue patrons in distress and administer standard first aid or CPR as needed.
• Administer advanced first aid for more severe injuries sustained by bathers.
• Advise supervisor of needed pool or equipment repairs and participate in scheduling repairs.
• Assist with periodic inspections of rescue and emergency life support equipment.
• Perform custodial and janitorial tasks to maintain a clean facility.
• Tally the daily collection of monies received.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six (6) months experience as a lifeguard.
• Valid certificates: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Water Safety Instructor issued by the American Red Cross or another nationally recognized certifying agency.
• Must pass the City of Miami performance test, which may include swimming, running, and simulated rescue exercises.
• Willingness to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Subject to a Level II background screening.
