Job summary

British Heart Foundation is hiring a part-time Warehouse Assistant in Washington to support busy Home and Fashion stores. You’ll sort and prepare donations, move large items, and keep the shop floor stocked while working weekends and bank holidays on a rota.

The role involves physical tasks and teamwork in a fast-paced charity retail environment. You’ll gain familiarity with BHF processes, safety practices, and fund-raising impact as you contribute to life-saving cardiovascular research.

Qualifications

• Previous retail experience isn’t essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
• Capable of guiding volunteers and working as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Organising donated items and preparing them for sale.
• Handling and moving the delivery of furniture and appliances.
• Ensuring the shop floor is well stocked.
• Following safety regulations and promoting wellbeing.
• Identifying unsaleable donations for recycling.
• Keeping the stockroom organised and tidy.
