Job summary

New York Edge seeks a part-time Visual Arts Specialist to organize, lead, and promote interest in arts activities for students in after-school programs. You will apply the New York State Arts Learning Standards to create engaging, standards-based lessons and guide student projects.

Work hours are 2:30 pm–5:30 pm, Monday through Friday (9–15 hours weekly). A high school diploma and at least one year of visual arts teaching experience are required; reliability and strong communication are

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge and experience in visual arts and youth instruction.
• Ability to follow a curriculum.
• Reliable, punctual, and strong communication.
• Experience teaching or coaching preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize, lead, and promote interest in arts activities for students.
• Direct rehearsals and performances for art groups.
• Set clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students.
• Prepare materials and classrooms for activities and ensure safety.
• Evaluate activities and adapt methods to meet student needs.
• Progressive development of student skills toward final projects.
