Job summary

The Santa Rosa Symphony's Simply Strings program seeks a dynamic teaching artist to provide general music and beginner violin instruction to elementary students starting in 2nd grade, using Kodaly, Dalcroze, Suzuki, and related methods. Bilingual Spanish candidates are encouraged to apply.

Position is part-time, non-exempt, primarily at Sheppard Accelerated Elementary School with some community concerts; remote work for administrative tasks may be possible.

Qualifications

• Familiar with Kodaly, Suzuki, Orff, or Dalcroze approaches.
• Ability to teach both individual and small/large ensembles.
• Collaborate with mentors and families to support student success.

Responsibilities

• Teach instrument-specific lessons, small and large ensembles in support of El Sistema philosophy.
• Coordinate with Simply Strings aides/mentors to deliver instruction.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with program goals and cross-program learning.
• Attend professional development sessions through SRS Education Department.
