Job summary

Lenoir City Animal Clinic is seeking a part-time Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our dedicated team in Lenoir City, TN. You will work closely with veterinarians and technicians to provide hands-on patient care, assist with medical procedures, and support client education in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The role emphasizes direct patient care, with front desk duties not routinely required. Must be comfortable handling dogs, cats, and other small animals, and capable of lifting up to 50

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary assistant program a plus.
• At least 1 year hands-on experience as a veterinary assistant preferred.
• Familiarity with animal restraint and common veterinary procedures.
• Comfort working with dogs, cats, and small animals of all temperaments.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, diagnostics, treatments, and surgeries.
• Administer medications as prescribed (oral, injectable, topical).
• Monitor and record vital signs and patient condition during exams and recoveries.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including site prep, positioning, and sterile fields.
• Assist with anesthesia induction and monitoring under supervision.
• Collect and process diagnostic samples and assist with radiographs and in-house testing.
• Perform nail trims, grooming assistance, ear cleanings, and wound care.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment.
• Document treatments and observations accurately in patient records.
