Job summary

American Veterinary Group (AVG) seeks a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our Baldwin Animal Clinic team. The role supports veterinarians with examinations, patient handling, and front-line client service in a fast-paced animal hospital.

The ideal candidate will assist with restraining, stocking, sterilization, and basic procedures such as venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia, dentistry, radiography, and lab work, while maintaining patient records and client communication.

Qualifications

• Prior customer service experience.
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
• This on-site role supports patient care and requires regular attendance to the clinic.
• Current state licensure in good standing for Veterinary Technician roles.

Responsibilities

• Assist Veterinarians in the care of animals, including restraining during examinations.
• Stock examination and surgery rooms with supplies; sterilize tools and ensure equipment is functional.
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration and monitoring, dental prophy, radiography, and laboratory analyses.
• Educate clients about pets and update patient files.

Description

Our hospital is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital.

The Veterinary Assistant is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals. The Assistant helps during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary, stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools and ensuring that equipment is in working order. Assistant skills will include, but are not limited to: venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, and monitoring, dental prophy, radiography, administering medications, performing laboratory analysis, and client education. Veterinary Assistant's also communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files.
