Montebello Veterinary Hospital is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities include restraint, lab work, radiography, nursing care, and assisting in surgical procedures.

We value a calm, team-oriented approach, strong communication with clients, and a willingness to learn in a busy clinical setting. Training and advancement opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as Veterinary Assistant preferred.
• Compassionate and calm team player.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Experience with sample collection, medical histories, lab tests, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a bonus.
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance knowledge and skillset.

Responsibilities

• Restrain pets for exams and procedures and triage incoming patients.
• Collect and analyze lab samples and assist radiography.
• Provide nursing care to medical and hospitalized cases.
• Communicate treatment plans effectively with clients.
• Assist in surgical preparation and anesthesia management.
• Follow safety protocols and maintain clean, organized work area.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.
