Job summary

PriorityPet Urgent Care of Germantown is looking for a skilled part-time Veterinary Assistant to support animal care during weekend hours. Candidates should have at least one year of experience and possess strong communication skills. Responsibilities include patient triage, medication administration, and surgical assistance preparation.

We offer competitive pay ranging from $17 to $20 per hour, depending on experience, along with comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision coverage.

Job description

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

This position is a part-time position for weekend hours only.

Qualifications

• An experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1-year experience required.
• Weekend availability is a requirement for this position.
• Compassionate and calm team-player.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Strong communication skills.
• Must be able to properly restrain pets.
• Proficient in sample collection, obtaining medical histories, processing laboratory tests and radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring are a bonus.
• Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance your knowledge and skillset.

Pay Range

$17 - $20/hr depending on experience level
