Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Des Moines is seeking a knowledgeable Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join a fast-paced team in the ER. You will triage cases, assist veterinarians, perform diagnostics, and help care for patients in ICU and the inpatient ward.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their fast-paced emergency department for mid-shit and weekends!

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handling client communication.

As An Emergency Veterinary Assistant, You Will
