Job summary

Miami County is seeking a part-time Transportation Aide to assist veterans by providing reliable van transport to the Dayton VA Medical Center and related appointments. The role includes mileage logging, safety maintenance, and coordination with medical staff and families.

Applicants must have an Ohio drivers license, a clean driving record, and experience with maps, GPS, and basic office software. Intermittent 18-24 hours weekly, $14.50–$15.50 per hour, non-exempt from overtime.

Qualifications

Must possess a valid Ohio drivers license with a clean driving record.
Completion of secondary education or equivalent with training or experience in vehicle operation.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Internet savvy to use MapQuest and other search programs.
Able to use GPS or read maps and navigate routes.
Ability to network and coordinate with other agencies.

Responsibilities

Transport eligible veterans to and from the Dayton VA Medical Center (VAMC) and return them home.
Transport VAMC referred veterans to other medical appointments in the Dayton area and WPAFB.
Explain the van transportation policy to new passengers.
Record mileage and fuel usage accurately.
Coordinate with veterans needing assistance equipment for transport.
Coordinate with VAMC nurses and social workers when a veteran is discharged.
Assist veterans in adjusting appointments to fit the transportation schedule.
Maintain van safety and hygiene; report needs to Transportation Coordinator.
Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
