Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX is seeking a part-time Athletic Coach to organize practices, monitor student-athlete academics, and manage uniforms for a 26-27 academic year schedule at roughly 4-5 hours per week over 6-8 weeks.

The role emphasizes placing academics first, collaborating with the Athletic Director, and mentoring students while contributing to YES Prep’s mission-driven culture. CPR/AED certification is required or to be completed promptly.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of coaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of specific sport including rules, terminology, etc.
• Must hold a valid CPR and AED certification or pursue certification within a set time frame.

Responsibilities

• Organizing practices and games
• Monitoring the academic progress of student athletes throughout the school year
• Issue and collect uniforms
• Provide orientation of a sound program to student athletes
• Communicate with coaches and athletic director on progress of athletes and team
• Ensure academics take priority over athletics
• Be on time to all scheduled events
• Train athletes to optimal physical condition
• Put team first over individual
• Stay with the team until last athlete and guardians depart
• Collect athlete documentation to stay compliant with state and YES Prep policies
• Handle additional duties as assigned
