Base pay range

$20.76/yr - $20.77/yr

Pratt Institute is seeking a Part-Time Utility Porter to join its Facilities Management Team, supporting the maintenance and upkeep of Pratt’s buildings and grounds. The successful candidate will have knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment, with hands-on housekeeping experience. Responsibilities

1. Clean building floors, walls, and surfaces by sweeping, mopping, wiping, scrubbing, or vacuuming; remove trash and snow; apply cleaning agents.
2. Move furniture and equipment as needed or directed.
3. Maintain furniture, office equipment, floors, walls, rugs, stairwells, lounges, bathrooms, lobbies, elevators, locker, and storage facilities.
4. Inspect, clean, and disinfect restrooms; restock paper and soap products.
5. Maintain safety and cleanliness of exterior and walkways using appropriate tools and chemicals.
6. Maintain cleaning equipment, ensuring it is in safe operating condition.
7. Report damage, malfunctions, or accidents involving Institute property or equipment.
8. Serve as relief truck driver or assistant to pick up and deliver packages, furniture, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency, or one year of relevant experience and training.
• At least one year of housekeeping, cleaning, or porter experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment and safe chemical use.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competence.
• Ability to meet physical requirements and work in inclement weather.
• NYS Driver License required.
