Job summary

TheraPeds Partners is hiring a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026-2027 school year in Williamstown, KY. The role provides direct and consultative TVI services with guaranteed hours and planning time.

You will work with students who are blind or visually impaired, developing IEP goals and implementing specialized instruction, including Braille when appropriate. The position is part-time (20 hours/week) on-site in Jonesville, KY, with support from TheraPeds and the school district.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education, Visual Impairments, Education, or related field.
• Active or eligible Kentucky educator certification/endorsement for TVI.
• Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, accessible materials, and ECC.
• Experience with students who are blind or visually impaired.
• Knowledge of IEPs, evaluations, eligibility, and special education services.
• School-based experience preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Good organization and time-management skills.
• Ability to complete required background clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and consultative TVI services.
• Develop and implement IEP goals and specialized instruction.
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments.
• Support ECC-related skills.
• Provide Braille and tactile learning instruction when appropriate.
• Adapt instructional materials and recommend accommodations.
• Support assistive technology and accessible materials.
• Monitor student progress and complete documentation.
• Participate in evaluations, IEPs, eligibility, and MDT meetings.
• Collaborate with families, teachers, O&M specialists, therapists, and special education teams.
• Consult with staff on visual access, classroom modifications, and instructional strategies.
• Support transition and independence skills based on needs.
