Job summary

Thomasville City Schools is seeking a Part-Time Vision Impairment Teacher (TVI) for the 2025-2026 SY to support a visually impaired student in a Thomasville, North Carolina setting.

The successful candidate will hold NC TVI licensure, have experience with visually impaired students in educational contexts, and collaborate closely with teachers, parents and specialists to implement IEPs and adaptive instructional strategies.

Qualifications

• Must hold North Carolina TVI licensure or certification.
• Experience with visually impaired students, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of adaptive techniques and assistive technology.

Responsibilities

• Part-Time position: 5 hours per week (1 hour/day).
• Provide specialized support to a visually impaired student for equal access to education.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the student’s needs and learning preferences.
• Develop and implement individualized education programs.
• Provide direct instruction using adaptive techniques and tools.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and colleagues to meet the student’s needs.
• Adapt materials to accommodate visual impairment.
• Assist in development and implementation of the student’s IEP.
• Guide and support staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed.
• Possibility of Full Time.
