Job summary

Excel Academy Charter School in East Boston, MA seeks a contracted Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a part-time role (about 1 day per week, 4 hours). You will deliver direct instruction, consult with staff and families, and support access to the curriculum per IEPs.

The TVI will collaborate with teachers and families, conduct functional vision assessments, recommend assistive tech, and document progress in line with state guidelines.

Qualifications

• Valid Massachusetts TVI license.
• Experience in school settings with visual impairments.
• Strong communication, collaboration and organization.
• Ability to work independently in a very part-time role.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction and consult with staff and families.
• Support students’ access to curriculum per IEP goals.
• Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP planning.
• Document services and submit progress reports timely.
