Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking enthusiastic students to provide tutoring services for K-12 and college students. You will help improve academic performance, build confidence, and develop effective study habits in math, reading, writing, and science. This is a part-time, onsite position with hours varying by need.

Ideal candidates are UM-Flint students eligible for Work-Study in Fall 2026, with strong communication skills and a genuine desire to help others succeed.

Qualifications

• Must be UM-Flint student enrolled Fall 2026.
• Must be eligible for Work-Study funding Fall 2026.
• Strong communication skills to tutor elementary students in Math and Reading.

Responsibilities

• Attend required training sessions and meetings.
• Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
• Assist students with homework, assignments, and exam preparation.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents (for K-12 students), and literacy program leadership.
• Explain concepts and provide alternative approaches to learning clearly.
• Provide tutoring to K-12 and college students in math, reading, writing, and science.
• Support literacy events.
