Job summary

The Math Learning Center at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is seeking a TUTOR II (TEMP) to provide drop-in tutoring for math courses up to MATH 228, in-person and via virtual formats, and to support exam proctoring and resource access.

This temporary role requires successful completion of a tutor content assessment, a faculty recommendation, high performance in Calculus II (Calc II) with a high B/ A range, and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Hybrid work arrangements apply.

Qualifications

• Must complete a tutor content assessment.
• Must be recommended by a faculty member who can attest to mathematical ability.
• Must have completed up to MATH 114 Calc II for Biology & Life Sci or MATH 116 Calculus II with course grade in the high B/A range.
• Must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.

Responsibilities

• Provide drop-in tutoring for math courses in-person and virtually.
• Facilitate 1-1 and group appointments for course assistance.
• Proctor various types of course exams.
• Help students sign in to the MLC and access resources.
• Attend training sessions related to academic success and best tutoring practices.
• Promote the MLC at events and class visits.
• Assist the MLC coordinator with projects and administrative tasks.
