Job summary

J.H. Knox/Overton in Salisbury, NC is seeking a Part-Time Tutor to reinforce reading and/or math for at-risk students in grades K-5.

The role reports to the building administrator and involves collaborating with the classroom teacher to prepare targeted lessons and activities. Applicants should have some college training or higher (minimum 48 semester hours with GPA 2.5+ or an associate degree) and may need WorkKeys testing (Math 4, Reading 4, Writing 3).

Job Description

Part Time Tutor

Reports to: Building Administrator

Purpose : To supplement reading and/or math instruction to academically at-risk students

Qualifications :

• 48 semester hours which include core courses with an overall 2.5 or higher GPA from an accredited institution; OR
• Associate Degree or higher with an overall 2.5 or higher GPA from an accredited institution; OR
• WorkKeys testing in Math - (min score 4); Reading - (min score 4); and Writing - (min score 3).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide supplemental instruction to academically at-risk students in grades K-5 to provide reinforcement of reading and/or math skills.
• Collaborate with classroom teacher to prepare lessons, materials, and activities that supplements classroom reading and/or math instruction for academically at-risk students.

Position Type: Part-Time
