Job summary

DOWLING ELEM SCHOOL in Odessa, Texas is seeking a Part-Time Teacher Tutor to support at-risk students through small-group tutoring. The role is hourly and reported to the campus principal.

The tutor will use research-based strategies to close achievement gaps, with emphasis on collaboration with the core teacher and program staff. Immediate starting date and structured hours are provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Texas Teacher certification required.

Responsibilities

• Open and honest communication with the core teacher, campus/ program administrator, student or student’s parent.
• Set an example of organization, responsibility, and personal excellence for struggling at risk students.
• Communicate high expectations for achievement for all at risk students.
• Comfort working with a diverse student population.
• Ability to efficiently plan, document, and communicate support services electronically.
• Ability to identify student conceptual gaps using multiple formal and informal assessment measures.
• Ability to successfully implement aspects of IEP, 504 academic accommodations and LPAC recommendations
• Ability to identify multiple means for conveying content to students with diverse learning styles and needs.
• Tutor must be on time and reliable.
