Job summary

Ector County Independent School District is seeking a Part-Time AVID Tutor for the 2026-2027 school year in Odessa, Texas. The tutor will support students across all academic subjects using AVID methodologies to prepare them for college or career success upon graduation.

The role requires a college student with strong math and English background and reliable transportation. Training is mandatory, with work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am–4:30 pm, and an immediate start date.

Qualifications

College student preferred; strong math and English background.
Must have own transportation.
Attend mandatory AVID training classes under supervision.

Responsibilities

Work with K12 students in a face to face classroom environment.
Determine from student notes and discussions the concepts that need to be taught or retaught.
Evaluate student binders, including calendars, class and textbook notes, etc.
Become familiar with the materials in the AVID Curriculum Libraries.
Become familiar with the textbooks and materials used by AVID students.
Conduct tutorial sessions in all core areas, especially math.
Conduct mini-lessons in the process of writing in all subject areas, study skills, and other aspects of college preparation.
Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for students to follow.
Work with students in any phase of the writing process, such as brainstorming, clustering, revision, and editing.
Communicate frequently and honestly with the AVID department and campus teachers regarding student progress and areas of concern.
Other duties as assigned.
Follow safety and professional standards set by ECISD.
