Job summary

City of Sierra Vista is seeking a Transit Bus Operator to safely operate Vista Transit buses on fixed and paratransit routes, greet passengers, provide information, and collect fares. The role requires a Class B CDL with a P endorsement, AZ driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks and a DOT medical exam.

You will perform pre/post trip inspections and assist riders, including those with disabilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• AZ Driver's license or ability to obtain upon hire.
• CDL Class B with ‘P’ endorsement, with medical certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of start.
• City of Sierra Vista may provide CDL training and tests.
• Passing required background checks and DOT medical.
• Prior experience driving commercial vehicles and CPR certification preferred.
• Clean driving history per policy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of transit buses on assigned routes while ensuring passenger safety and comfort.
• Assists passengers including those using wheelchairs; operates wheelchair ramps.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections and reports any issues.
• Collects fares and validates passes or transfers.
• Provides route, schedule, and fare information to passengers and coordinates with dispatch.
