Job summary

Sioux City Transit Department is seeking an experienced Motor Coach Operator to drive a City bus and serve the public with safety and professionalism. The role involves following routes, maintaining schedules, and delivering information to riders while keeping accurate records.

You must hold a CDL with passenger endorsement, provide a driving history, and meet physical requirements. Shifts are Monday–Friday with about 20 hours per week, and residency within 30 miles is expected.

Qualifications

• CDL with passenger endorsement or higher required.
• CDL history record must be provided at interview.
• Ability to pass minimum physical requirements per motor carrier safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operates transit vehicles on assigned routes, maintaining time schedules and safety.
• Provides information to the public regarding transportation services.
• Performs pre-operation safety inspections and reports service needs.
• Maintains passenger and vehicle records.
• Responds to inquiries and keeps courteous communication with the public.
• Assists elderly and disabled passengers as required by the ADA.
• Handles emergencies and disruptions during service.
