Job summary

Universal Health Services is seeking a part-time Teacher for our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Garfield Park, Chicago. The role supports school-age children and adolescents with behavioral health needs, providing structured instruction and therapeutic interventions while maintaining curriculum and charting requirements.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree, Illinois teaching certificate (PEL), and experience with ED/BD populations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Masters preferred.
• Valid Illinois teaching certificate (PEL) required; certification in Special Education preferred.
• One year teaching ED/BD children and/or adolescents preferred.
• Knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population, individual and group management skills, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development.

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction to patients in a structured classroom.
• Develops special interventions for patients unable to function in the classroom setting.
• Assists in curriculum development.
• Completes patient lesson plans and maintains all required records.
• Maintains appropriate instructional materials and a safe, sanitary environment.
