Job summary

The Park District of Highland Park is looking for an experienced Theater Instructor to teach a range of classes from 18 months to adult. The role involves choreographing routines, maintaining attendance, and guiding students in a dynamic, creative environment.

We seek an energetic, reliable professional with teaching experience and strong communication skills. The position is part-time and non-exempt, with Sunday afternoon classes starting January 2027 and room for growth as the program expands.

Qualifications

• Education: BA/BFA in Theater and/or Musical Theatre preferred or equivalent.
• Ability to teach a variety of Theater styles from beginner to advanced.
• Previous teaching experience is required.
• Energetic, driven, creative and dependable with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Teach Theater classes for ages 18 months through adult.
• Observe students and tailor programs to needs and aspirations.
• Explain techniques of movement to music.
• Maintain attendance and supervise class activities.
• Coordinate with supervisor and staff on curriculum and schedules.
• Assist with recruitment of instructors and attend staff meetings.
