Job summary

The Gurnee Park District is seeking a part-time Dance Instructor in Gurnee, IL to teach various styles to groups of 6-12 students. You will prepare lesson plans and assist with recitals and productions.

Evening and weekend hours are required, with hours varying by session. Qualifications include being at least 16 years old, high school diploma preferred, formal dance training, and CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Formal dance training and expertise in the area they will be instructing.
• Must be able to work with children/youth/adults.
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to become certified within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Teach a group of approximately 6-12 students per class.
• Be a direct contact for parents and students involved in program during class time.
• Participate in all special performances and programs.
• Prepare a general lesson plan for each class with goals relating to the Studio Dance curriculum.
• Demonstrate techniques and observe/correct students to improve technique in a positive learning environment.
• Provide a safe and enjoyable class environment for all participants.
