Job summary

Sovita Credit Union in Flint, MI is seeking a Part-Time Teller to deliver friendly, accurate member service and process daily transactions.

You will handle deposits, withdrawals, and transfers, maintain cash drawers, and promote credit union products while upholding security and service standards. Flexible schedule with part-time hours and competitive starting wage based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality service to members and team members as defined by the credit union's service standards at all times.
• Warmly acknowledge and greet members with a sincere smile upon arrival at one of our offices.
• Provide comprehensive, prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.
• Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, enter deposits into the system.
• Process withdrawals and cashing, verify amounts, and enter withdrawals into the system.
• Cash share drafts/checks/credit union checks after verification of signatures and balances.
• Receive loan and credit card payments and enter payments into the system.
• Issue money orders, credit union checks and VISA gift cards.
• Maintain a cash drawer, balance it, and report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Assist in opening the branch and other duties; balance the branch and nightly duties.
• Explain and promote credit union services such as savings, loans, debit/credit cards, and online banking.
• Assist members with forms (transaction slips, payroll deduction/ACH, change of address).
• Ensure confidentiality and adherence to security procedures.

Description

Job Description: Tellers provide our members with the best personal experience possible, processing member banking transactions accurately and efficiently. Tellers cross sell credit union products and services and perform other duties as assigned.

Job/Task Functions: Essential to the Position

Provide quality service to members and team members as defined by the credit union's service standards at all times. Warmly acknowledge and greet members with a sincere smile upon arrival at one of our offices. Provide comprehensive, prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.

Receive share drafts/checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine share drafts/checks for proper endorsement, and accurately enter deposits into computer system. Process withdrawals from accounts and/or share draft/check cashing, verify amounts, and accurately enter withdrawals into computer system.

Cash share drafts/checks/credit union checks after proper verification of signatures and member balances according to credit union policies and procedures. Receive loan and credit card payments and accurately enter payments into computer system. Issue miscellaneous products such as money orders, credit union checks and VISA gift cards.

Maintain an individually assigned cash drawer, balance it at end of each shift, and compare totaled amount to computer-generated totals. Research and resolve discrepancies and report any discrepancies to your supervisor. Assist other tellers research and resolve discrepancies with their drawers. Assist in opening the branch and other morning duties; assist in balancing the branch and other nightly duties.

Explain and proactively mention credit union services such as savings, loans, debit and credit cards, online banking, etc. When necessary, direct members to the appropriate person for specific information and assistance.

Assist members in completing various forms (i.e. transaction slips, payroll deduction/ACH, change of address, etc.).

Comply with and maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all related policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Ensure that all information and transactions regarding credit union members are kept confidential. Enforce strict adherence to established security procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Hours:
9:15 AM to 6:15 PM Friday
9:15 AM to 1:15 PM Saturday
Flexible schedule Monday through Thursday
No Saturday hours during July and August

Starting Wage: Competitive wage based on experience.

Benefits Include: Vacation pay twice a year (June 30th and December 31st), tuition reimbursement up to $1,000 per semester or $4,000 per year and employer provided pension plan.

Starting Date: Within two weeks of job offer.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

MATH: Add and subtract five digit numbers. Perform the four basic arithmetic operations with coins as part of a dollar. Perform operations with units such as cup, pint, and quart; inch, foot, and yard; and ounce and pound

LANGUAGE: Read documents, policies and procedures. Read safety rules and instructions. Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
