Job summary

Southern Bancorp is seeking a part-time Banking Clerk to support cash handling and customer service tasks in our El Dorado, AR branch. The role runs 11:30 AM–5:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with one Saturday per month, subject to change to meet customer needs.

The position involves cash handling, ATM servicing, deposits, withdrawals, check processing, and assisting customers with bank services. Candidates should have basic math skills, confidentiality, and a professional, friendly demeanor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six months of customer service and cash handling experience; experience in a bank or similar financial institution preferred.
• Strong customer contact skills to meet and greet the public in a friendly, courteous manner responding to a variety of situations in a professional manner
• Maintain confidentiality of the Bank’s records and customer transactions.
• Detail oriented, accurate, and able to multi-task; good mathematical aptitude
• Ability to operate a computer terminal, 10 key, and other general office equipment
• Willingness to be involved and represent Southern Bancorp through civic and community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains proper cash level in drawers, keeps cash secure, and maintains a high level of safety for the Bank.
• May service ATM according to schedule or need
• Opens safety deposit boxes
• Completes CTR reports as needed
• Performs duties of branch CSR on scheduled Saturday rotation
• Accepts checks for cashing, receives checking and related accounts; accepts deposits, verifies cash and endorsements, makes change, and issues receipts
• Receives savings deposits, pays withdrawals after verifying balance and signature; redeems U.S. Savings Bonds
• Receives loan payments when installment loan coupon accompanies payment
• Process credit card cash advances
• Responds to customers' inquiries as appropriate
• Sells cashier's checks
• Cross-sells bank and affiliate services
• Performs various balancing functions, including ATM.
• Completes all required training
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned
